US headline inflation printed 8.5% for the 12 months ended July, down from last month's high of 9.1%. Its core CPI remained flat at 5.9% on an annualised basis for the 12 months to July, but the monthly increase was at a lower rate of 0.3% against last month's 0.7%. This release may lead to a decline in the discounting factor in market participant valuation models. If so, this adjustment, in turn, will be favorable for the stock market and risk-associated instruments.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves - our sentiment indicator puts the GER30, CHN50, NAS100 and US2000 in value territory. However, the US30 and SPX500 are nearing our threshold level but are not quite there. Moderation in inflation will also probably act as a headwind to the greenback, potentially supporting other majors. Of course, the Fed will need to see a trend of moderating numbers, but this was an excellent first step.

We are excited to announce a substantial update to our Trading Station Desktop making your trading experience even better. Let’s take a look at what’s new and improved!
