How do I make a deposit?

Please log in to MyFXCM with your live account username and password, then click "Deposit Funds". (For clients who have filled out the online application but have not received an account username, please deposit funds here. A username will be provided after the initial deposit is processed.)
The available funding options and deposit time frames are:
Credit or Debit Card
Approximately one business day, often less to process into your trading account.Bank Wires

Credit or debit card can be the fastest and easiest method to deposit funds online. If your deposit exceeds $30,000 or equivalent, the fastest and easiest method to deposit funds is by bank wire.
The minimum deposit for use of our online credit card or debit card system is $50. The maximum credit or debit card deposit is $30,000 per transaction or $30,000 per calendar month.
There are no administrative fees from FXCM to deposit funds. We recommend you contact your bank regarding any fees they or their associated intermediary banks may charge.

- The minimum to open a Corporate, Trust, or IRA account is 50,000.00 CCY.
- If this is not your first deposit, the minimum deposit by card is 50 CCY.

What do you mean by CCY?

CCY is an abbreviation for the word, "currency." Therefore, CCY = Currency.
For Example: 50 CCY means 50 units of the base currency of your credit/debit card.
- If you have a card that is in USD, 50 CCY is 50 USD.
- If you have a card that is in GBP, 50 CCY is 50 GBP

Does FXCM accept deposits from net banking?

No, FXCM does not accept deposits from net banking.
We do have a number of easy deposit methods, such as Wire or Card.

What is the fastest way to deposit?

Credit or debit card deposits are fast and easy.
Most credit or debit card deposits are processed within 1 business day, if not sooner.
You may deposit by card by logging into MyFXCM or using FXCM’s Mobile App.

Does FXCM accept third party deposits?
-
No. Third Party deposits violate FXCM's Anti-Money Laundering policies and as such FXCM cannot accept any payments via a third party. Should third party funds be received, FXCM may ask for supporting documentation such as a Wire Confirmation and/or Bank statement in order to prove ownership.
Deposits received from an account in a different name and/or held by someone other than the trading account holder constitutes a third party deposit. This also applies to corporate funds received for an individual account and similar scenarios.
We can neither guarantee the receipt nor the return of such payments.

Which bank cards are acceptable?
-
Typically, FXCM can accept deposits from any bank card with a Visa or Mastercard logo.
Visa prepaid cards cannot be accepted for deposit (this includes prepaid cards with your name on it). When using gift cards or prepaid cards, the origin of funds cannot be verified and therefore are not accepted. Deposits received in this manner will be returned to the originating card.

Why was my card deposit not instantaneous?

In most cases, credit or debit card deposits made via MyFXCM are instantly credited to your trading account.
If you are experiencing a delay, it could be due to one of the following reasons:
- Incorrect/Inconsistent information on the deposit details
- You have exceeded the 20,000 CCY limit for the month
In these cases, please allow up to 1 full business day for your deposit to be reviewed. Should we need any additional information from you, we will contact you via email.
Otherwise, it may just be a delay and you should expect a “Transaction Notification” email to be sent once the funds are deposited into your account.

What is the status of my deposit?

You can check the status of your deposit online by running an “Account Report” on MyFXCM, or by logging into your account and viewing the Account Balance or Equity.
- Once the deposit has been processed, the “Account Activity” section on your MyFXCM report will display the deposit (please see the example above).
- Once a deposit has been credited to your account, an email confirmation will be sent to the email address on file.

How do I transfer money from one FXCM account to another?

In order to transfer funds between accounts, please log into MyFXCM.
- Log in using the login credentials from the account your transferring funds FROM.
- Once logged in, click on “Transfer Funds.” Unless your accounts are linked, change the first drop-down box from “under this login” to “with different login information.”
- Select the account you’d like funds to come from and then type in the account you’d like them to go to.
- From there, follow the remaining instructions and click “Submit” and follow the pages until you receive a confirmation page.

What’s the best way to deposit?

If you plan on sending less than 20,000 CCY, the best way to deposit is by credit or debit card.
- Most often these deposits are processed in less than 1 business day.
If you plan on sending more than 20,000 CCY, we recommend bank wire as it will be the most secure method.
In addition, FXCM may be able to reimburse the fee your bank charged to send the wire.
- Deposits by wire are usually credited to your trading account within 3-5 business days.

Are there any exceptions to the 20,000 CCY maximum for card deposits?

The maximum deposit on a credit or debit card is 20,000 CCY per month.
- If you would like to deposit 20,000, this needs to be broken up into two 10K deposits.
- In order to help protect the security of funds, credit or debit card transactions are limited to a maximum of 20,000 CCY per month.
- If you accidentally deposit more than the maximum allowed, we will contact you via email with further instructions.

My credit or debit card deposit was declined, why?
-
If a card deposit is declined, it is usually due to incorrect information in the deposit details.
Please confirm all the information you entered and try the deposit again. If your deposit is still getting declined, please look below for possible reasons and solutions.
- The name on your card does not match the name on your account: Your funds must come from an account with a name matching the name on your FXCM account.
- Solution: Confirm the name on your FXCM account by logging into MyFXCM and selecting “Personal Information”. Once confirmed, try the deposit again. - The address associated with your card does not match the address you entered in the deposit details: The address used for the deposit must match the address listed on the credit or debit card.
- Solution: Confirm the address for your card and try the deposit again. - The CVV2 is incorrect: The three digit security code (CVV2) on the back of your card does not match the information entered on the deposit details. If the number does not match, the card issuer will decline the payment.
- Solution: Confirm the CVV code on the back of your card and try the deposit again. - Card limit reached: The deposit amount exceeds the card's daily limit. In order to protect your funds, many debit and credit cards have a limit on how much can be charged daily and/or a limit on the amount you can spend at one time.
- Solution: You can break up your deposit into multiple transactions (try 2-3 deposits).
- Solution: You can contact your bank or card issuer to temporarily remove this limit. - Insufficient Funds: The deposit amount exceeds the available amount on your credit or debit card.
- Solution: Check your available balance or contact your card issuer. Once done, try to deposit again. Security feature on your card. A security feature, like fraud protection, on your card is preventing FXCM's automated system from processing the deposit.
- Solution: Contact your card issuer for more details on how to resolve this issue. In the mean-time, you can still deposit using one our other methods. - Prepaid Card: The deposit attempt was made using a prepaid credit or debit card. We do not accept prepaid credit or debit cards because we are unable to verify the origin of the funds.
- Solution: You can fund your account with a different deposit options.
- The name on your card does not match the name on your account: Your funds must come from an account with a name matching the name on your FXCM account.

I deposited funds into an old closed account. What happens next?

If you also have an open account, the funds will be credited to your open account.
- This is a manual process which may result in a slight delay before you will have access to your funds.
- Please allow up to 1 full business day. A “Transaction Notification” email will be sent as confirmation when the funds are credited.
If you do not have an open account, we will place your deposit on hold and email you a request for a new application.
- Please check your email for the application.
- You can speed up the process by submitting your new application now.
- Once the new account has been created, the funds will be credited accordingly.

The amount deposited in my trading account is less than the amount I sent. Why?
-
FXCM does not charge for incoming deposits.
- If the amount that is credited to your FXCM trading account is less than the bank wire you initiated, your bank may have used a “send-through” bank in order to send the funds.
- These banks are also referred to as intermediary banks and usually charge an additional fee for their service.
- For more information regarding the use of Intermediary banks, please contact your personal bank.

Do you accept paper check deposits?

No, we do not, however we do have a number of other options to make a deposit.

Can I use my pre-paid debit card or Maestro card for my deposit?

No. FXCM does not allow pre-paid credit or debit cards as a form of deposit.
These cards do not allow us to verify the origin of the funds and are therefore unacceptable. For this same reason we do not accept Maestro cards.

Can I make a deposit with two or more cards?

Yes, as long as the name on the card(s) match the name on your FXCM trading account.
When you withdraw funds, the amount deposited from each card will be returned to each card.

Can I transfer money from another broker to FXCM?

Yes.
- In order to initiate the transfer, please send FXCM’s wire instructions to your current broker to send the bank wire.
- You may also need to provide them with your FXCM account number.

What happens if I send my deposit in a currency that is not listed on MyFXCM?

If you deposit funds in a currency other than the base currency of your trading account, FXCM will convert the funds prior to completing the deposit.
- Below is a list of the conversion costs, based on the amount of your deposit:

Can I send my deposit in any currency?

- If the bank receives funds in a currency other than the currency of the bank account listed on the deposit details, the deposit will be automatically converted at an exchange rate specified by the bank.

- FXCM does not recommend using an online transfer or bill payment service as a form of deposit due to the likelihood that the funds may arrive at FXCM with insufficient account details.

What is my bank's SWIFT code?

The fastest way to find the correct SWIFT code is to contact your bank and ask them. (Most banks have this information on their website and/or within your online banking page with them) FXCM will not research to find your SWIFT code for you. Be sure to always update your banking details with correct, accurate information to prevent delays.
The SWIFT Code is a standard format for Business Identifier Codes (BIC) and it's used to uniquely identify banks and financial institutions globally - it says who and where they are. These codes are used when transferring money between banks, in particular for international wire transfers or SEPA payments. Banks also use these codes to exchange messages.

May I send cash or a cash equivalent such as a money order or Travelers Check?

Cash and cash equivalents cannot be accepted as we are unable to verify the origin of these funds. They will be returned upon receipt. Instead, you can use any of our other deposit methods available on MyFXCM.

Can I send funds through an exchange house?

FXCM cannot accept funds sent through exchange houses. These types of financial institutions are considered high-risk for money laundering. Any funds received via this method will be returned upon receipt.

How can I send funds in a currency not listed on your website?

FXCM has funding instructions for multiple currencies. If you wire funds in a currency other than the denomination of that bank account, the bank will automatically convert it to the denominated currency at an exchange rate specified by them, which may not necessarily be favourable.

What is “Verified by Visa”?

Verified by Visa adds an extra layer of security. This helps to protect the card holder in the event their Visa card or account number is lost or stolen. Please contact Visa for more information.

How do I withdraw funds?

It is easy to withdraw funds from your FXCM trading account. For your convenience, withdrawal requests are submitted online.
To withdraw funds, please log into MyFXCM and click on "Withdraw Funds". A withdrawal request can be submitted online by selecting your withdrawal method and clicking "Submit". We will process your withdrawal request within one to two business days whenever possible. The available withdrawal options and time frames to receive funds are:
Credit or Debit Card
Time frames will vary depending on the credit card issuer and may take up to one billing cycle to post back to the credit or debit card used for funding.Bank Wires
Domestic bank wires take about one to two business days and international bank wires take about three to five business days, often less, to arrive.If you funded your account with a credit card or debit card, it is required to withdraw the principal amount (deposit amount) back to your credit card. The credit card issuer may take from five business days to one billing cycle (approximately thirty days) to post back to the credit or debit card used for funding. When requesting a withdrawal to a credit card, please consider if that card is closed, expired, or a different credit card number has been issued, to choose an alternative method of withdrawal. Returning funds to a closed account can cause a significant delay in receiving funds, and FXCM cannot guarantee a time frame in which funds will be received if the requested withdrawal amount is initiated to a closed account.

There are no fees for withdrawals by credit card or debit card.
A $40 withdrawal fee will be charged for all Bank Wire requests.

How much can I withdraw via debit or credit card?

Debit or Credit card withdrawal amounts are limited to the amount originally deposited using that card(s).
- For example, if you have deposited a total of $500 using your credit or debit card, the most you can withdrawal to your credit or debit card is $500.
- Once the principal amount (deposit amount) has gone back to your card, the remaining funds may go back to a bank account in your name.

I no longer have the credit or debit card that I funded my account with. How can I withdraw funds?

If the card you previously used is linked to your new card, you can proceed with a withdrawal back to the card on MyFXCM. (It is best to confirm with your bank that your new card is linked to the same account as your previous, expired/replaced card). Deposits by card are treated as 'purchases'. Meaning, that funds will be returned to the same card used for the deposit as a 'purchase return'.
- If the card you used is now closed, you can choose another withdrawal option located on MyFXCM.
Note: FXCM reserves the right to request proof of account closure before continuing with your withdrawal request.

How do I see how I originally funded my account?

The best way to find which method was originally used to fund your account is follow these instructions:
- Run an Account Statement (report) on MyFXCM for the entire history of your account.

- If you funded via card, go to your online banking website for the card you probably used.
- Search for a purchase from FXCM (Forex Capital Markets) to confirm the card used.
If you determine that you originally funded via bank wire, go to your online banking website for the bank account you probably used. Then, search for the FXCM transaction.
